The fact that it is a auto rookie Gehrig is a wow. The auto location is nice but not bold enough for the size of the card. Major issues with corners and loss of paper
Even setting aside that there are only 3 signed Gehrig RCs known to the hobby, this specimen benefits from its wear avoiding the central subject image, and the auto as well; the wear of its 100 years through time even steered clear of most of the name plate in bottom left. That said, the eye is drawn to the top left's paper loss. Were that not present, I could totally look past the bottom left. Obviously, on this card, the reverse is a non-issue. A monstrously important card that delivers eye appeal well beyond expectations for the usually very beat-up '1' grade.

Great card but on this site we are judging eye appeal and the paper-loss on front makes it hard to give a high grade.
